In the bustling world of startups, every so often, a new player emerges that captures the collective imagination, promising not only innovation but also a genuine disruption to the status quo. This is even more rare in the world of Life-Sciences and Biotech startups. InvenireX is a shining exemplar of what happens when ingenuity meets opportunity.
Let’s start with that name: InvenireX
Invenire – is taken from the Latin Invenire, meaning to discover and invent, followed by X which marks the spot. To find the X, is to pin down the unknown. InvenireX’s purpose is a simple one. It’s in the name. Find X.
InvenireX’s mission is to democratize detection. We are developing real-time, ultra-sensitive DNA and RNA detection instrumentation powered by the latest object-detection neural networks, to empower our scientists to accelerate life-sciences research. We have purpose built new detection technologies from first-principles by seamlessly weaving together cutting-edge DNA nanotechnologies with custom-built AI detection neural-networks to enable the single-molecule, real-time detection, and quantification of Nucleic-acid biomarkers of interest right at the bench-side.
From the get-go, it’s essential to understand the groundbreaking nature of InvenireX. We have developed programmable Nucleic-acid nanostructures capture entities, built from scratch a number of high-throughput microfluidic chip capture arrays(( & published an open-access paper on it: ACS Omega 2023, 8, 38, 35393–35409)) and an autonomous AI powered miniaturized super-resolution scanner which when combined into one platform produce a brand new, extraordinarily powerful research tool. Our platform is truly unique in not possessing any of the limitations that come in tow with existing methods. For example, our process is enzyme-free, it does not amplify the target molecule directly (so has no risk of rogue-byproduct amplifications), it does not need prior extractions or purification and there is no need for thermocycling. Our technology boasts an astonishing Zeptomolar Limit of detection, outperforming even the current best-performing gold-standard qPCR, not just on LOD (Limit of Detection) but also on both Cost & Speed too.

Like every great innovation, the roots trace back to a supportive foundation. Such an undertaking was extremely complex, requiring a nurturing environment similarly seamless in multi-disciplinary fields. Thankfully, such a rare environment existed with the Interdisciplinary Computing and Complex BioSystems (ICOS) research group, from the School of Computing at Newcastle University. The early genesis of InvenireX was underpinned by the phenomenal support from the Academy’s “Engineering DNA-based Data Structure Organoids (EnDROIDS) and the Royal Academy of Engineering. Every start up needs a nurturing, guiding hand to grow, learn and thrive. For InvenireX, this nurturing came in the form of the ConceptionX Deeptech accelerator. ConceptionX is more than just an accelerator; it’s a space where deep technological ideas are given the wings to fly. Their unparalleled mentorship, resources, and network have been instrumental in shaping the trajectory of InvenireX. Alongside the Accelerator support, InvenireX has found an early believer and supporter in the Venture Capitalist XTX Markets Limited, who recognized the startup’s immense potential, making an early pre-seed six-figure investment, and by such echoing their reputation for visionary thinking and love of disruptive, innovative technologies.
