Meet our new researcher Kai

Kai Armstrong - Computational Sciences Research Assistant

We would like to introduce Kai, our newest researcher, who joined our EnDROIDS team in April 2024. Kai’s research background sits within multidisciplinary areas of biochemistry and bioinformatics. His current research focuses on developing algorithmic tools for DNA origami – creating innovative computational frameworks to design and model complex structures from DNA.

Kai is currently in the final stages of PhD at the University of Lincoln. His thesis focuses on computer-aided diagnostics, where he applies machine learning and deep learning techniques to solve complex problems in bioinformatics and health informatics.

One of the things that drew Kai to science is the creative freedom it allows:

“I love science because I can be creative’

, he said. The work is challenging, but it gives him the chance to solve meaningful problems. There’s a sense of purpose in knowing that his work is helping.

In essence, that’s what science is: creative solutions to the world’s most challenging problems. When Kai is not working, he enjoys spending time in the kitchen, as cooking and baking are his favourite hobbies.

Welcome Kai!
