Curiosity in Action: Welcoming Matteo to the EnDROIDS Team
In Spring 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting Matteo for four months as he worked on DNA/RNA origami with our EnDROIDS team.
A Background in Science
Matteo holds a degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology and is now in the third year of his PhD. He has always been fascinated by the study of the human body, with a particular interest in the intersection of pharmacy and drug sciences. This led him to the research of DNA/RNA origami that forms the basis of many DNA data storage strategies as well as novel nucleic acids therapeutics.
Why Science?
When asked what excites him about science, Matteo’s answer was simple - curiosity:
“I am a very curious person, and I love to learn different things,”
he explains. Science, for Matteo, is the perfect space for curiosity to thrive. He loves how it challenges him to think deeply, to constantly ask questions like: “How can I resolve this problem? How can I fix it?” It’s this continual pursuit of answers that excites him the most. But it’s not just the intellectual challenge that motivates him. Matteo also enjoys being part of a vibrant scientific community, meeting new people, traveling for different projects, and gaining a broader perspective on the world through his work.
Beyond the Lab
Outside of his scientific pursuits, Matteo is passionate about a range of hobbies. Music, cooking, and fitness top the list—especially his love for pasta, something he proudly ties to his Italian heritage! Matteo is also a keen traveller, embracing the opportunity to explore new cultures and traditions while meeting diverse groups of people. For him, travel is a liberating experience, and one that complements his scientific curiosity with real-world exploration.
